Marcie is the best coach I’ve ever had. Before working with her, there were these periods of time when I wasn’t making progress on my compositions in a way that I defined as productive and flowing, and I would usually get depressed and mopey, and would doubt myself as a working artist. Now, when I’m not making progress in that one way, I see those times as an opportunity for developing new language or as sign that I’m just uninspired or bored with my own stuff. Not that I can’t write, but that I’m just needing some outside inspiration, like looking at other people’s work or I use that time for fun experimentation.

Marcie has the right balance of being inquisitive and tough, so that I discover such insights to my process.  Finding my way with the natural cycle of creativity was a big thing for me as an artist and I am so grateful. Many coaches want to encourage, but are so heavy on the cheer-leading or on the accountability that they don’t drive with the skills that actually cause insight into my own world, so that I can see things differently and then take action naturally. They don’t hang in there in the uncomfortable moments and get curious, guiding the conversation towards reflections that become the subtle breakthroughs that yield positive results.  Marcie hangs in there wherever you are and is not afraid to confront and dig in when necessary.  Now that I have more insights into my process as a working artist, it feels easier to quickly bounce back and keep being creative.
